The Commercial Vocational Training Center Halberg (KBBZ Halberg) is a vocational school center in Saarbrücken , in which numerous vocational schools , two technical colleges and a higher vocational school are combined. The school authority is the Saarbrücken regional association . School supervision is the responsibility of the Saarland Ministry of Education.

history

On May 1, 1909, the “Commercial College of the Chamber of Commerce ” was founded on the initiative of the Saarbrücken merchants' association . On May 7, 1912, the city took over the school under the new name "Commercial Advanced Training School of the City of Saarbrücken". In 1936 the school moved into a new building on Stengelstrasse and was named "Friedrich List School". After two divisions in 1957 and 1959, another part (around 2,300 students) became independent as the Commercial School III (KB III) on October 1, 1972. Eugen Maréchaux became the head of the new school. On November 8, 1982 KB III was moved to a modern glass-steel-concrete building in the Brebach-Fechingen district, which the then Saarbrücken City Association had the architect Focht build for around DM 15 million. The location in the Halberg district led to the new name “KBBZ Saarbrücken-Halberg” (Commercial Vocational Training Center Saarbrücken-Halberg). In order to avoid confusion with the "KBBZ Saarbrücken" in Stengelstraße, the name was shortened to "KBBZ Halberg" (Commercial Vocational Training Center Halberg) on January 1, 2007.
