Geotope |
The Kautsee is a lake in the Eggstätt-Hemhofer lake district north of the Chiemsee . It is located in the municipality of Bad Endorf in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria . With an area of 16.49 hectares, it is the fifth largest of the Eggstätter lakes after the Langbürgner See , Hartsee , Pelhamer See and Schloßsee .
geography
The three-lobed lake, surrounded by moor areas, is located in a nature reserve established in 1939 in the ice crumbling landscape of the earlier Inn and Chiemsee glaciers of the Würm Glaciation north of the Schlosssee that drains to it, and southwest of the Hartsee, into which it drains. There are only shallow connections between the three lake basins that are silting up more and more.
Geotope
The Kautsee with moor has been designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment as a particularly important geotope (geotope number: 187R018).
