Kayvan Kohanfekr , also Keyvan Kohan Fekr , (born September 16, 1991 in Mashhad ) is an Iranian cyclist who competes in races on the track .

Athletic career

Kayvan Kohanfekr, a trained auto mechanic , has been competing in track cycling races, primarily in the short term, since the 2000s . At the Iranian track championships in 2008 he finished eighth in the U23 1000 meter time trial , and in 2013 he finished sixth in the elite team sprint together with Mohammad Daneshvarkhourram and Farzad Moghaddam .

Kayvan Kohanfekr and his brother Kamran decided to leave Iran: "When you live in Iran, they control your daily life, they control your ideas." ("When you live in Iran, your daily life and your thoughts are controlled." ) He could no longer bear this: He wanted to be free and have the right to say what he thinks. The brothers saved money for a long time and finally ended up in Austria. It was clear to both of them that the first months and years would be difficult.

Since 2016 Kohanfekr has been registered with his main residence in Austria, which entitles him to take part in national championships. In 2019 he became Austrian national sprint champion .
