Kazimieras Paltarokas (born October 22, 1875 in Gailioniai , Wolost Pasvalys , † January 3, 1958 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian Roman Catholic bishop .

Life

Paltarokas studied at the Joniškėlis elementary school and graduated from the high school in Mintauja , Latvia . He then studied at the Kaunas Seminary and the Spiritual Seminary in Saint Petersburg , Russia . There he defended the dissertation De origine animae humanae and received a master's degree. In 1902 he was ordained a priest. He then worked in the Latvian city of Liepāja .

From 1911 he taught at the Kaunas seminary. From 1914 he was vice rain of the seminar. From 1922 to 1926 he taught pastoral theology as a professor at the University of Lithuania . On April 5, 1926 he was appointed Bishop of Panevėžys by the Pope and consecrated on May 2 by Pranciškus Karevičius . From 1926 to 1957 he headed the Panevėžys diocese. From 1949 to 1957 he was administrator of the Vilnius Archdiocese .

His grave is in the Panevėžys Cathedral .
