Kazimierz Bronikowski

Kazimierz Bronikowski (born April 1, 1861 in Ostrów Wielkopolski , † November 27, 1909 in Lemberg ) (actually Oppeln-Bronikowski) was a Polish Polonist , Germanist , educator and translator .

Life

He was the son of Anton Oppeln-Bronikowski (1817-1884), professor at the Royal Catholic High School in Ostrów Wielkopolski and Albertina born. Święcicka.

After graduating from high school in 1879 , he studied philosophy , pedagogy and modern languages ​​at the universities in Breslau , Leipzig and at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow . After completing his studies in Breslau in 1885, he moved to Krakow, in 1887 he received Austrian citizenship and was employed as a teacher at the 3rd grammar school in Krakow. After the teacher examination in 1892 he was appointed professor at the Lemberg Higher Industrial University.

Bronikowski also worked as a translator, he created a. a. the Polish translation of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's theoretical work “ Laokoon ”. He wrote several manuals of stylistics .
