Keith Adam Van Horn (born October 23, 1975 in Fullerton , California ) is a retired American basketball player.

College career

Keith Van Horn was the first player in the Western Athletic Conference who was three times Player of the year (1995-1997). Furthermore, he was only the second player in the history of the WAC to be elected to the WAC All-First team in all four college years. In addition, Van Horn set the record for the highest career score for both the WAC and the Utah Utes from the University of Utah with 2542 points . In February 2008, he was named one of 16 players for the University of Utah's All Century basketball team.

National Basketball Association

In the 1997 NBA draft Van Horn was as the second pick by the Philadelphia 76ers , obliges him but with Michael Cage, Lucious Harris and Don MacLean in exchange for Jim Jackson, Eric Montross and the draft rights to Tim Thomas and Anthony Parker to traded the New Jersey Nets . For his achievements in his first year as a professional, he was appointed to the NBA All-Rookie First Team .

Van Horn finished his second and best NBA season with an average of 21.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Furthermore, in 2002 he was a major reason for the success of the Nets, which only failed in the NBA Finals at the Los Angeles Lakers .

In 2002 Van Horn was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers together with Todd MacCulloch in exchange for Dikembe Mutombo . After a year in Philadelphia, he moved to the New York Knicks , who traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks in February 2004 . In February 2005, Van Horn moved to the Dallas Mavericks , where he missed the NBA championship for the second time in his career at the 2006 NBA Finals.

After this season Keith Van Horn took a year off to devote more time to his family. Although he did not express any comeback plans, he extended his contract with the Mavericks for another three years in February 2008 to become part of Jason Kidd's trade from New Jersey to Dallas. However, Van Horn never played for the Nets and they separated from him in October 2008.

During his nine-year NBA career, Van Horn scored 16.0 points and took 6.8 rebounds on average.
