Kelyn Akuna (born June 7, 1983 - May 9, 2020 ) was an American track cyclist and cycling official.

Athletic career

Kelyn Akuna started cycling at the age of 15. In 2008 he won the American team sprint championship with Dean Tracy and Jimmy Watkins . He was a member of the national railway team.

After ending his active cycling career Akuna led the Velodrome in Burnaby , British Columbia until he manager of Mattamy National Cycling Center in Milton was. He, who himself was of Hawaiian origin and had a great interest in the culture of indigenous peoples , founded the Aboriginal Youth Cycling association in 2010 to inspire athletes of Indian origin for cycling. He had previously worked as a Jiu Jitsu trainer for the Urban Native Youth Association in Vancouver . Kelyn Akuna died in May 2020 at the age of 36; the cause of death is unknown.
