Kemono Friends ( Japanese け も の フ レ ン ズ , Kemono Furenzu ) is a computer role-playing game from the developer Nexon from 2015. It was adapted as a manga and anime . The manga was published in German as Kemono Friends - Willkommen im Japaripark! .

In Japari Park sorts of rare and endangered species and even a few legendary beings live. Due to a special substance that occurs in the park, some animals transform into anthropomorphic beings ( kemono ) in the form of little girls with characteristics of the respective animals, called "friends". In the course of the game, the player discovers the various creatures in the park.
The manga follows the nurse Nana, who has just started in the park. At first she has some problems dealing with friends and still has to learn, over time she becomes friends with the animal beings and experiences adventures in the park. The anime is about Kaban , a being who wakes up one day in the park, wants to find out which animal it is and goes on a journey through the park.

The game was created by the developer Nexon , who also launched it. The role-playing game for Android and iOS was released in March 2015 . In December 2016, the app was stopped. In spring 2018, new versions of the adventure RPG came out as an app for the smartphone: Kemono Friends Pavilion, Kemono Friends Festival and Kemono Friends Alarm .
Manga
A manga adaptation of the game created by Fly was released under the title Kemono Friends: Yōkoso Japari Park e! from July 2015 to March 2017 in Shōnen Ace magazine . Its publisher Kadokawa Shoten also brought out the series in two edited volumes. A German version was published by Tokyopop in July and October 2018 under the title Kemono Friends - Willkommen im Japaripark! . Yen Press published the series in English.
Anime
At Studio Yaoyorozu , Tatsuki directed and scripted a 12-part anime series about the game. The artistic direction was Yūko Shiromizu and the character design comes from Irodori. Yoshihisa Isa was responsible for the animation and Nobuyuki Abe was in charge of the sound. The anime was broadcast from January 11 to March 29, 2017 after midnight (and thus on the previous TV day ) on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in Japan, as well as on TV Aichi with an offset of one hour and on AT-X the following day . The online platform Crunchyroll published it with English and German subtitles and Aniplus Asia showed the series on television outside of Japan.
In 2018, the anime won the award for Best TV Series at the Tokyo Anime Awards .
In 2019, a sequel was released with Kemono Friends 2 . This was created in Studio Tomason under the direction of Ryūichi Kimura and based on the scripts by Takuya Masumoto. The first episode ran on January 19, 2019 after midnight on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka, a half-hour offset also on TV Aichi and later that day on AT-X. Crunchyroll also streams these with English and German subtitles.

The series music was composed by Akiyuki Tateyama.
The opening credits of the first season are Yōkoso Japari Park e texted and composed by Masayoshi Ōishi and sung by Dōbutsu Biscuit (i.e. Saki Ono, Yuka Ozaki, Kana Motomiya in their respective roles) × PPP. (i.e. Aina Aiba, Ikuko Chikuta, Mikoi Sasaki, Ruka Nemoto, Kyōka Tamura in their respective roles). The credits are underlaid with Boku no Friend by the singer-songwriter Mewhan and during episode 8 the song Ōzora Dreamer ( 大 空 ド リ ー マ ー ) by PPP is recorded.
In the second season, Notteke! Japari Beat ( 乗 っ て け！ ジ ャ パ リ ビ ー ト ) texted and composed by Masayoshi Ōishi, and sung by Dōbutsu Biscuit × PPP and used in the credits Hoshi o Tsunagete ( 星 を つ な げ て ) texted ×, and interpreted by Jin.
Stage plays
A first implementation as a play was shown in June 2017 and reissued in January 2018. In the same year a musical for Kemono Friends premiered. Another play on the game is planned for November 2018 and will be shown at the Shinagawa Club eX.
