The Kent Group National Park lies in the Bass Strait between Australia and Tasmania . It comprises the islands and rocks of the Kent Group and the Judgment Rocks together with the sea area surrounding them.
The national park was founded in 2001, its area is 312 km². A zone of three nautical miles around the islands is also protected.
Numerous sea birds live on the islands , as well as chicken geese , Bennett wallabies , rabbit kangaroos , kusus and skinks . The waters around the island are extremely rich in fish. The Judgment Rocks the largest colony lives on fur seals Tasmania.
In contrast to the larger neighboring islands, Dover Island is still heavily forested. Since cattle were never kept on this island, it was able to preserve its original vegetation.
Visitors can hike in the national park, visit the museum on Deal Island, observe nature, fish, swim and dive, for example to sunken shipwrecks . All visitors to the national park have to take care of themselves - there are no facilities. There are some volunteers who look after the national park all year round on Deal Island.
