Kent Brinkley
Kent Leon Brinkley (born September 24, 1949 - February 6, 2000 in Los Angeles ) was an American jazz musician ( double bass ).
Brinkley worked as a musician in the late 1960s and 70s a. a. Charles Tyler ( Eastern Man Alone ), Rudolph Johnson ( The Second Coming ), Monk Montgomery ( Bass Odyssey , 1971). From 1973 he played with Freddie Hubbard , with whom he made a guest appearance in the same year at the Funkhaus Hamburg at the NDR jazz workshop . In Hubbard's band with George Cables , Ralph Penland and Junior Cook, he worked on his albums Keep Your Soul Together ( CTI ) and High Energy (Columbia, 1974). He also played albums with Bobby Hutcherson ( Inner Glow , 1975) and the blues musician Arthur Adams ( Home Brew ) a. In the field of jazz he was involved in eight recording sessions from 1967 to 1979, most recently with René van Helsdingen and the Superlights Quintet . In later years he led his own formation, which also included the vibraphonist Donald Moors, but made no further recordings.
