Kepler-452 is a yellow dwarf in the constellation Swan , which is about 1,800 light-years from the sun away. The star has a surface temperature comparable to the Sun , but is 20% brighter and has a 10% larger radius. It has the same spectral class (G2) as the sun.
The fastest man-made space probes to date, Helios 1 and 2, would take almost six million years to cover the current distance between the solar system and Kepler-452.
Planetary system
Based on the observations of the Kepler Space Telescope , the discovery of an exoplanet around Kepler-452 was announced on July 23, 2015 , which was given the designation Kepler-452b . The planet has about 1.6 times the diameter of the earth and orbits its central star within 385 earth days in its habitable zone . It is possible that Kepler-452b is a rocky planet on which liquid water could be present. The Earth Similarity Index of this satellite is 0.83. In July 2015, Kepler-452b was ranked sixth on the list of potentially habitable planets .
