Keratolytic

A keratolytic (plural: keratolytic ) is a horn-loosening agent . The term is derived from the skin substance keratin .

Keratolytics are used cosmetically and for the treatment of pathological cornification disorders ( hyperkeratoses ) in order to force keratolysis in this way .

The following keratolytics are known:

Systemically , only acitretin and isotretinoin are used for the purpose of keratolysis.
