The kernel club relatives ( Cordycipitaceae ) form a family of parasitic hose fungi in the order of the crust ball mushroom- like . There is evidence from representatives of the family worldwide.
description
The types of nuclear lobe relatives have stromata or subicula that are pale or brightly pigmented and fleshy. Their perithecia are located on the soil surface or are completely embedded in the substrate and oriented at right angles to the surface of the stroma. The asci are cylindrical with a thickened tip. The ascospores are usually cylindrical, contain many septa, and either remain intact until maturity or disintegrate at this point.
Taxonomy
The family was first described in 1969 by the mycologist Hanns Kreisel , but the name had not been validly published according to the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants . This only happened in 2007.
The type genus is Cordyceps Fr. (1818).
