The Kerr Inlet is a 1.5 km wide and icy bay at the Hillary Coast of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the northern section of Barne Inlet , it is on the west side of Cape Kerr .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 2000 based on the name of the cape of the same name. Its namesake is Walter Kerr (1839–1927), First Sea Lord of the Royal Navy and supporter of the Discovery Expedition (1901–1904) under the direction of the British polar explorer Robert Falcon Scott .
