Kerry Gammill

Kerry Lynn Gammill (born April 26, 1954 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American illustrator , comic book artist , storyboard and film designer.

Life and work

Gammill began his career in 1978 as a comic story artist for New York City-based Marvel Comics . There he drew in the 1970s and 1980s on series such as Spider-Man , Indiana Jones , Captain America , X-Men and Fantastic Four . At the same time, he worked for the television station Channel 5 in Dallas for the late night show The Museum of Horror .

From 1988 to 1994 he worked for the publisher DC-Comics as a draftsman on various comic series about the comic hero Superman , such as Adventures of Superman , Superman , Superman: Man of Steel and above all action comics . He worked mainly as a cover artist, i. H. as a draftsman of the cover pictures of the aforementioned comic books, while the interior design of the magazine was mostly done by other artists such as Bob McLeod or Jackson Guice .

Gammill also drew stories for the series Elvira's House of Mystery , Hawk and Dove, New Titans and New Titans , the special edition Superman for Earth written by Roger Stern , and covers for the miniseries Powergirl (1988) and Supergirl ( 1993/1994 ).

In 1996 Gammill switched from the comic industry to the film industry, where he specialized in the creation of storyboards and as a conceptual design artist and creative consultant in the creation of set designs. The films he has helped to design include the Ben Affleck film Phantoms (1998), Species II (1998), Wrongfully Accused (1998; with Leslie Nielsen ) and Virus (1999; with Jamie Lee Curtis ).

For American television, Gammill worked on the visual design of series such as Outer Limits, Stargate SG1 , Dreamcatcher , Tremors - The Series and GI Joe: Valor vs. Venom . In the same function he worked on the video game Area 51 . As art director he made the independent film Creeptales (2004). In 2002 he published the book Kerry Gammill's Drawing Monsters and Heroes for Film and Comics which was published by Vanguard Productions.

More recently, Gammill has worked as a designer of toys and DVD accessories.
