The Kesagami River is a river in the Cochrane District in the Canadian province of Ontario .
The Kesagami River has its origin in Upper Kesagami Lake , which is located on Ontario Highway 652 . From there the river flows in a northerly direction. It takes in the Little Kesagami River , which drains the nearby Little Kesagami Lake , from the right. The upper reaches of the Kesagami River to its confluence with Newenham Bay in Kesagami Lake has a length of about 80 km. It flows through the lake and leaves it on its northeastern bank.
The Kesagami River continues its course in a north-northeast direction and overcomes several rapids at the transition from the Canadian Shield to the James Bay Lowlands . The tributaries Bodell River (left) and Shashiskau River (right), which drain the area north and east of Kesagami Lake, flow into the river. Shortly before its mouth, the Lawagamau River meets the river from the right. Eventually the Kesagami River reaches the mouth of the Harricana . The total length of the river is about 220 km.
Almost the entire lower reaches lie within the Kesagami Provincial Park .
The river can be by canoe for several days to James Bay and after Moosonee traveled. From Kesagami Lake you can reach the upper reaches of the Partridge River via a portage .
