Keshari Nath Tripathi ( Bengali : কেশরী নাথ ত্রিপাঠী; Bhojpuri : केशरीनाथ त्रिपाठी; Hindi : केसरी नाथ त्रिपाठी; Santali : ᱠᱮᱥᱟᱨᱤ ᱱᱟᱛᱷ ᱛᱨᱤᱯᱟᱴᱷᱤ; Tamil : கேசரிநாத் திரிபாதி; born November 10, 1934 in Allahabad , United Provinces, British India ) is an Indian Politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was governor of West Bengal between 2014 and 2019 . During this time, he also served as governor of Bihar from 2014 to 2015 , as governor of Meghalaya in 2015, as governor of Mizoram in 2015 and again as governor of Bihar in 2017.

Life

After attending school, Keshari Nath Tripathi completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Allahabad , which he completed with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). A postgraduate studies of law at the University of Allahabad closed it with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from. During his studies he was arrested for his involvement in the Kashmir conflict . He then served as a lawyer involved and had among other things, approval at the High Court of Allahabad ( Allahabad High Court ) . In 1977 he became a member of the Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) , the lower house of the state of Uttar Pradesh , and was a member of this until 1980. In the government of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naresh Yadav, he was Finance Minister from 1977 to 1979. From 1987 to 1989 he was President of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association , the lawyers admitted to the Allahabad High Court .

Tripathi was again a member of the Vidhan Sabha of Uttar Pradesh between 1989 and 2004 and its spokesman for the first time from 1991 to 1993. At the same time, he served as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Nations in Uttar Pradesh from 1991 to 1993 . In 1997 he was again speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh and held this post of Parliamentary President until March 19, 2004. In 1997 he was again President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Nations in Uttar Pradesh.

On July 24, 2014, Keshari Nath Tripathi succeeded Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil as governor of West Bengal . He held this office for five years until July 29, 2019 and was then replaced by Jagdeep Dhankar . During this time, he also acted as the successor to Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil from November 27, 2014 until his replacement by Ram Nath Kovind on August 15, 2015, also for the first time as governor of Bihar . As the successor to Krishan Kant Paul , he was also governor of Meghalaya from January 6 to May 19, 2015 , after which V. Shanmuganathan succeeded him. He replaced Aziz Qureshi as governor of Mizoram on April 4, 2015 and held this post until his replacement by Nirbhay Sharma on May 25, 2015. On June 22, 2017, he took over the post of Governor of Bihar for the second time from Ram Nath Kovind and held this post until October 4, 2017, after which Satya Pal Malik succeeded him.
