Satya Pal Malik ( Bhojpuri : सत्यपाल मलिक; Hindi : सत्यपाल मलिक; Tamil : சத்யபால் மாலிக்; born July 24, 1946 in Hisawada, Baghpat District , Meerut Division , Uttar Pradesh ) is an Indian politician who is a member of both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha was. He served as governor of Bihar from 2017 to 2018 , governor of Odisha in 2018, and governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 2018 to 2019 . He has been the governor of Goa since 2019 .

Satya Pal Malik, son of Budh Singh, completed an undergraduate degree at Meerut College after attending school , which he completed with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). A postgraduate studies of law he concluded at Meerut College with a Bachelor of Laws from (LL.B.). He was initially a member of the Bharatiya Kranti Dal (BKD) and represented it between 1974 and 1977 as a member in the Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) , the lower house of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time he was General Secretary of Bharatiya Kranti Dal from 1975 to 1977 and General Secretary of Lok Dal between 1979 and 1980 . On July 5, 1980, after his move to the Indian National Congress (INC), he became a member of the Rajya Sabha , the upper house of the Indian Parliament (Bhāratīya Saṃsad) , and was a member of this until September 14, 1989. He was also Secretary General of the INC in the state of Uttar Pradesh between 1980 and 1983 and again from 1985 to 1988 .

In the parliamentary elections on November 22nd and 26th, 1989 , Malik was elected a member of the Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament, after his move to Janata Dal (JD) , and represented the Uttar in this until the parliamentary election in May / June 1991 Pradesh lying constituency of Aligarh . On October 4, 2017, Satya Pal Malik took over the office of governor of Bihar from Keshari Nath Tripathi and held this office until August 23, 2018, after which Lalji Tandon succeeded him. At the same time, he was the successor of S. Chubatoshi Jamir from March 21, 2018 until his replacement by Ganeshi Lal on May 29, 2018, and governor of Odisha .

Malik succeeded Narinder Nath Vohra as governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 23, 2018 . He was the last governor of this state until October 31, 2019, which was then reorganized into the two union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh by a law passed in August 2019 . As the successor to Mridula Sinha , he was appointed governor of Goa on October 25, 2019 and sworn in as such on November 3, 2019.
