Keshavrao Vaman Bhole ( Marathi : केशवराव भोळे , Keśavarāv Bhoḷe ; born May 23, 1896 in Amravati ; † 1967 ) was an Indian film composer of marathic films .

Life

Keshavrao Bhole came to Pune as a singer in 1926 . There he came into contact with western orchestral music as accompanying music for silent films: "The tones of the instruments, their timbre and how so different instruments can play together without sounding atonal, occupied him a lot," as he wrote in 1964 in his book Mazhe Sangeet: Rachana Ani Digdarshan wrote. He experimented for the first time with piano, Hawaiian guitar and violin for the play Andhalyanchi Shala (1933) performed by the theater group Natyamanwantar . In the same year he came to the Prabhat Film Company and replaced the musically more orthodox Govindrao Tembe as house composer. Bhole penned the film music for some of the most famous Marathi productions of the 1930s and early 1940s. He often worked with the songwriter Shantaram Athavale .

Since V. Shantaram's Amritmanthan (1934), Bhole's innovations in the musical support of the sound film productions introduced only a few years earlier have included rehearsals with the actors, who were then still singing, accompanied by live music. He interpreted the singing as a counterpart to the speaking voice of the actors and adapted their rhythm to the music. This practice of leading singers is particularly evident in Vishnupant Pagnis ' appearances in Sant Tukaram (1936) and Shanta Aptes in Kunku / Duniya Na Mane (1937), which were led by Bhole's music in the organic harmony of speaking and singing voice.

After working together for Prabhat on the films Daha Wajta / Dus Baje (1942) and Ramshastri (1944), Keshavrao Bhole left the film company together with the directors Raja Nene and Datta Dharmadhikari , the songwriter Shantaram Athavale, and the film editor and later director Anant Mane , and worked independently for a few more years. His last film work was for Raja Paranjpes Parijatak / Shri Krishna Satyabhama (1951), after which he worked for All India Radio .

His wife was the singer Jyotsna Bhole .
