The Kesselpater is 2985  m above sea level. A. high mountain peak of the Lasörling group in the Venediger group in East Tyrol ( Austria ). It is located in the north-west of East Tyrol in the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen , south of the municipality border with Prägraten am Großvenediger . The Kesselpater was first climbed on July 15, 1896 by L. Purtscheller from the Hainzenspitze .

location

The Kesselpater lies in the west of the Lasörling group and has a north, west and south ridge. The west ridge leads to the Hainzenspitze ( 2977  m above sea level ), with the Hainzenscharte ( 2875  m above sea level ) separating the two peaks. The north ridge with the Finsterkarscharte ( 2954  m above sea level ) leads to the southeastern summit of the same name of the Finsterkarspitze ( 3029  m above sea level ). The south ridge slopes down towards the Dürrfeldalm. The Finsterkar stretches to the west of the Kesselpater, to the south lies the Kesselsee, which drains into the Trojeralm valley in the south, which runs from west to east .

Promotion opportunities

The fastest ascent options are starting from the Neue Reichenberger Hütte from the Finsterkarscharte over the north ridge or from the Heinzenscharte over the west ridge ( both I ). An ascent via the south ridge is possible from the Dürrfeldalm, whereby the ascent here leads over the Kesselsee and then on the left to the south ridge ( I ).
