The lords and barons of Kesteloot , also written Kesteloott , were originally from the Netherlands originating Prussian aristocratic family .

A relationship to the Westphalian nobility of the von Ketelhodt family has never been proven.

The well-known line of the German line of the family begins with Isaak von Kesteloot from Danzig († 1757), who fought in the Silesian Wars in the Württemberg Dragoon Regiment (No. 12) and fell as a staff captain during the Seven Years' War near Dresden on September 4, 1757 . His grandson was the Prussian major general Ernst Heinrich Leopold von Kesteloot .

The last male representative of the family to be found was the merchant Oskar von Kesteloott, who lived in Berlin at the end of the 19th century , so that the sex must be considered extinct.

Estates

The von Kesteloot owned the goods Bombitken (Kr. Heiligenbeil ) and Romitten (Kr. Preußisch Eylau ) near Königsberg (Ostpr. ).

Genealogy and relationship to other noble families

Little is known about the actual family tree of von Kesteloot; this includes both their original descent from the Dutch nobility, which is still considered certain, and the question of the kinship to the von Ketelhodt family, which was discussed at the time but never proven. The knowledge about family connections to other (German) aristocratic families is also only partially preserved.

There is evidence of a marital relationship to the von Maltitz family of the Kummerow family and thus in ascending order also to the von der Groeben family . There was also a marital relationship to the East Prussian line of von Freyhold .
