Kevin McDonald (Bishop)

Kevin John Patrick McDonald (born August 18, 1947 in Stoke-on-Trent , Staffordshire , United Kingdom ) is British clergyman and Roman Catholic former Archbishop of Southwark .

Life

Kevin McDonald was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Birmingham on July 20, 1974 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Northampton on March 29, 2001 . He was ordained episcopate on May 2 of the same year by the Bishop Emeritus of Northampton, Patrick Leo McCartie ; Co- consecrators were Patrick Kelly , Archbishop of Liverpool , and Vincent Nichols , Archbishop of Birmingham .

He was named Archbishop of Southwark on November 6, 2003, and inducted into office on December 8 of that year. He resigned from his office on December 4, 2009.

Kevin McDonald has been Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy of England and Wales of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem since 2003 .
