Career

Draft and Minor League

Kevin Plawecki was voted 35th in the first round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the New York Mets. He previously worked for the Purdue Boilermakers, the baseball team at Purdue University in West Lafayette . In 2013 he played for the Savannah Sand Gnats, the Mets' then A-level minor league team in 65 games. In the middle of the season he was upgraded to Advanced A Level to the St. Lucie Mets and played 60 games there.

For the 2014 season, Plawecki was allowed to start with the AA team of the Mets, the Binghamton Mets . In 58 games he impressed offensively with a batting average of 32.6% and 43 RBI . On June 26, 2014, the player was then appointed to the highest minor league class to the Las Vegas 51s , in which he contributed 21 RBI for his team in 43 games by the end of the season.

In 2015 Plawecki started again with the 51s and was called up to the Major League Team for the first time in April after 22 games.

Major League

Plawecki made his MLB debut on April 21, 2015 in a 7-1 home win over the Atlanta Braves , in which he scored two hits and two runs . Plawecki had come to the MLB squad to replace Travis d'Arnaud , who had broken his hand two days earlier after a hit by pitch . On April 25, he managed his first home run in his fourth mission in an 8-2 win against the New York Yankees . Plawecki became the first player in history to hit his first home run in a Subway Series game. By the end of the season Plawecki had played 73 games for the Mets, had a batting average of 21.9% and scored 21 RBI.

Plawecki has been complaining of dizziness at irregular intervals since 2014, so he missed a few games in 2014 and 2015 and had several examinations carried out to find out the cause. Finally, between the 2015 and 2016 seasons, surgery was performed on Plawecki's sinus , which was identified as the source of the dizziness. On June 21, 2016, Plawecki was transferred back to the Las Vegas 51s to make room on the roster for Travis d'Arnaud, who had recovered from a re-injury.

Private life

Plawecki has been married since November 2015. He maintains a close friendship with Travis d'Arnaud .
