West Lafayette is located at 40 degrees 26 '31 "(40.441935) and north latitude 86 degrees 54' 45" (86.912409) western length in the EST time zone (Eastern Standard Time / CET -6 hrs.). Directly to the east is the city of Lafayette (Indiana) , between the two, forming the border in places, the Wabash River , a tributary of the Ohio.
