The Khan pit connecting railway in the colony of German South West Africa was built to transport ore for onward transport through the Otavi railway .

history

The Khan mine connecting railway was built from the Khan copper mine, not far from today's Husab uranium mine , to the Arandis railway station on the Otavi railway, in order to transport the ores from the copper mine via the railway to the coast of the colony to the shipping point in Swakopmund .

The superstructure of the railway came from the old Swakopmund-Karibib state railway , which was closed on April 1, 1910 and had a 600 mm gauge . The Khan pit connecting line was also produced in a 600 mm gauge and was 11 kilometers long. In December 1911 the line went into operation.
