Geographical location

As the southeast branch of the Kneifelspitze ( 1188.7  m ), the Kiliansberg breaks off steeply to Untersalzberg ( Gnotschaft Berchtesgaden ) or to the Berchtesgadener Ache . It can be reached via the small church Maria am Berg or on the descent from the Kneifelspitze or the Ochsen-Diensthütte. The Kiliansberg is densely forested.

Forest fire

From June 12th to 13th, 2003, Kiliansberg was the focus of local media interest because of a forest fire that was probably triggered by a lightning strike . Well over 150 emergency services from the fire brigades , the mountain rescue service and the Bavarian Red Cross were called upon to contain the flames - also using a fire extinguisher and a police helicopter.
