Killingworth is a town in Middlesex County in the US state of Connecticut .

history

In 1663, the area that is now Killingworth and neighboring Clinton was first settled as "Homonoscitt" (from Hammonasset, a river). Already in 1667 the settlement was renamed "Kenilworth" and since about 1705 the name "Killingworth" has been in use. In 1734 the place was divided into two parishes, Killingworth in the north and Clinton in the south on the coast, but they formed a kind of "community association" until 1838, only in this year the final separation was completed.

Yale University

In 1701 the Collegiate School was founded in what is now Clinton in the home of Rector Abraham Pierson. In 1718 it moved to New Haven as Yale University after several stops .
