Kim Kye'kwan

Kim Kye-kwan (born January 6, 1943 in Unsan , P'yŏngan-pukto Province ) is a North Korean diplomat and politician. He is North Korea's Deputy Foreign Minister.

Kim Kye-kwan studied French at the University of International Relations in Pyongyang . He began his diplomatic career in 1969 at the North Korean embassy in Algeria . In the 1980s he worked in the Pyongyang Foreign Ministry. He made his first appearance as a high-ranking diplomat when he accompanied the party secretary Kim Yong-sun to New York in 1992 for talks with the US Deputy Secretary of State Arnold Kanter . In addition, Kim represented his country several times in further negotiations with US representatives, including on the North Korean nuclear weapons program . He also took part in the six-party talks .

Kim Kye-kwan is an expert on North Korea's relations with the United States . In addition to Korean, he also speaks English and French .
