Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club is an Indian football club from the Bengali metropolis of Kolkata . It was founded in August 1920. There is a local rivalry with the Mohun Bagan AC team . The derbies of both teams are considered the highlight of each season. The East Bengal Club has been a member of the top Indian league since the National Football League was founded . The club is a three-time national champion (2001, 2003 and 2004) and has won the Indian Cup eight times .
Stadion
East Bengal FC plays its home games either in the Barasat Stadium (capacity: 22,000) in Kolkata or in the Yuba Bharati Krirangan (also Salt Lake Stadium ) in the Kolkata district of Bidhan Nagar. This stadium has a capacity of 85,000 spectators.
