Kington is a minority and civil parish in Herefordshire , England. At the 2001 census, Kington had 2597 residents.

Kington is on the England- Wales border , and although it is west of Offa's Dyke , it has been part of England for more than 1,000 years. The parish lies in the shadow of Hergest Ridge on the Arrow, 34 kilometers northwest of Hereford . Neighboring locations are Presteigne , Builth Wells , Knighton and Leominster .

history

In the 8th century Kington belonged to Wales, but in the middle of the 11th century it became part of the Anglo-Saxon dominion as a desert . Kington came to the crown with the fall of Roger de Breteuil, 2nd Earl of Hereford in 1075. 1203 bought William de Braose, 4th Lord of Bramber Kington. A castle in the village was probably destroyed in 1216 and then abandoned.
