The Kinki University ( Japanese 近畿 大学 , Kinki daigaku , short: Kindai ) is a private university in Japan . The main campus is located in Higashiōsaka in Osaka Prefecture .
The name Kinki comes from the region name, which means "near the capital ".
history
The university was founded in 1925 as the Osaka Technical School ( 大阪 専 門 学校 , Ōsaka semmon gakkō ) by the corporation of Nihon University . In 1939 the technical school set up its independent body. In 1943, Osaka University of Natural Sciences and Engineering ( 大阪 理工科 大学 , Ōsaka rikōka daigaku ) was founded by the corporation. During the Pacific War , college and college had a hard time; Sekō Kōichi ( 世 耕 弘 一 , 1893-1965), a professor at Nihon University and a member of the Shūgiins , saved the schools. In 1948 the university founded the Fisheries Institute, which has recently been known for research into the "full" rearing of tuna .
In 1949 the college was merged with the Osaka technical college to form Kinki University . It initially had two faculties: science and engineering, and business studies. She founded more faculties: Law (1950), Pharmacy (1954), Agricultural Science (1958), Engineering (1959 in Hiroshima Prefecture ), Kyushu Engineering (1966 in Fukuoka Prefecture ), Medicine (1974), Humanities and Arts (1989), Bio, natural and engineering sciences (1993, Japanese 生物 理工 学部 ) etc.
In 1961 she set up a research reactor (UTR-KINKI, power: today 1 watt). Along with the state universities of Tokyo and Kyoto , it is one of the three Japanese universities that have research reactors in operation.
