The Blumenthal Church is a church building in the Blumenthal district of the Ferdinandshof community in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . It belongs to the parish of Ferdinandshof in the Pasewalk provost of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .

history

As early as 1793, the evangelical residents of Blumenthal applied to King Friedrich Wilhelm II of Prussia to build a church at their own expense, but they did not receive approval. A church could not be built until 1914, which was consecrated on October 18, 1915. The construction was financed by a collection organized by the community and by grants from the government and the Gustav Adolf Foundation . The brothers Wilhelm and Paul Gerhardt donated the church stalls and the organ , which were taken over from the old Eggesiner church.

In 2006 the parish of Blumenthal became part of the parish of Ferdinandshof.

Buildings and equipment

The church was built as a rectangular plastered building on a foundation made of field stone blocks. The long sides, each with three segment-arched windows, are structured by pilaster strips over which a simple cornice runs. The west portal is framed in bezels and crowned by a segmented cornice.

The church has a western roof tower with a Welscher dome and a rectangular floor plan. On the east gable, the roof has a cripple hip and a bat dormer on the eaves .

The altar hall and the pulpit were built at the end of the 18th century. The church stalls also come from the 18th century. In the medieval altar of the church there is a carved figure of a crescent moon Madonna and two groups of Anna Selbdritt , which are dated around 1500.
