history

After the place Grischow was donated to the city of Treptow an der Tollense and its hospitals in 1402 , the Grischow Church belonged to the area of responsibility of the pastor of the local St. Peter Church . Later it became a branch of the Werder church .

An older previous building was destroyed in a fire on June 25, 1825 along with most of the village. The current church was built on its foundations and remains of the wall between 1828 and 1830. It was equipped with modern equipment for its time and could, among other things, be fully heated. The church tower was built in 1858. After decades of neglect, it has been dilapidated since 2000.

architecture

The church is a rectangular plastered building with stepped gables . The nave is 21.4 meters long and 6.3 meters wide. The square west tower is 36.4 meters high. On the north side there is a brick portal from the 16th century.

Interior

The church has a flat wooden ceiling.

A painting of a crucifixion scene on the back wall of the altar from the 19th century belongs to the neo-Gothic interior. The two windows of the east gable with glass paintings date from the middle of the 19th century. They represent John the Evangelist and the Apostle Paul .

The granite baptismal font is dated to the 13th century and is the oldest inventory item in the church. The faces of a woman and two men are depicted on the bowl in Romanesque forms.

The organ was built in 1875 by Barnim Grüneberg from Stettin as his Opus 161 and has two manuals with pedal and 10 stops . In 2011 it was overhauled by Mecklenburg Orgelbau .

The bell was cast in 1827 near Schwenn in Stettin .
