The Evangelical-Lutheran listed church Kauern stands on the Platz der Republik von Kauern , a municipality in the Thuringian district of Greiz . Part of the community crouching belongs to parish Ronneburg parish Ronneburg in the church district Altenburger Land of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The former chapel of the castle is now a branch church of the Marienkirche Ronneburg . The hall church, which is covered with a gable roof , essentially dates from 1703. The roof tower is covered with slate and has sound arcades and a clock tower . He wears a hood with an open lantern on it. The tripartite galleries and pews were installed 1769-71. The rest of the church furnishings are from 1903.

The organ with eight registers , divided into a manual and a pedal , was built by Adam Eifert in 1903 .

The church was once known as the breeding ground for the barn owl . The owl was prevented from entering by closing the skylight . Meanwhile the entrance hatch for the owl is open again.
