Kessin Church (Grapzow)
The Kessin Church is a church building in the Kessin district of the Grapzow municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District . It belongs to the parish of Siedenbollentin , Propstei Demmin, Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Northern Church .
Kessin was a parish village as early as 1308 when the church was placed under the archdeaconate of Stolpe . In the middle of the 18th century, at the instigation of the von Walsleben family, the pastor moved to Grapzow, where a new parsonage had been built for him. As a result, the Kessiner church became the daughter of the Grapzow church .
1896, the old church was replaced by a neo-Romanesque construction of brick replaced with a west tower. In 2004 the building had to be temporarily closed due to static problems in the subsoil. It is only used in exceptional cases.
The furnishings come from the time it was built. The ringing consists of two bells, the older of which dates from the 15th century. The younger is dated 1518.
