The Würzbrunnen Church is a former pilgrimage church in the municipality of Röthenbach in the Emmental , Canton of Bern , Switzerland .

The church was under the patronage of St. Stephan , but the pilgrimage was to St. Wolfgang .

In place of today's late Gothic church building, there was previously a wooden church that is said to have been donated by Leuthold von Rümligen (1115–1148). 1148 confirmed Pope Eugene III. the Rüeggisberg monastery its ownership rights to the Würzbrunnen church and the small Röthenbach monastery. After a fire in 1494, the church was rebuilt in its current form, and in 1779 the interior was painted in baroque forms with many biblical sayings.

The church became known especially for the film adaptations of Gotthelf's works by Franz Schnyder . Today it is a popular wedding church, where numerous weddings take place from April to October .
