The Church of Zweenfurth is a sacred building of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony in Zweenfurth in the Saxon district of Leipzig .

history

Zweenfurth Church before 1844

The Zweenfurth Church is originally a Romanesque choir tower church . The round arches and round arched windows in the chancel point to the construction around 1200. It forms a structural unit with the neighboring cantor's council . The church was badly damaged in a fire in 1753 - it was probably also at this time that the architectural style was baroque (see octagonal redesign of the spire). In 1844 the nave was rebuilt in the classical style . The church has belonged to the Borsdorf parish since 1957. It was renovated in 1992.

organ

In 1844, the made by organ builder Christian Carl David Beyer from Großzschocher was organ consecrated. The instrument with a pitch of 442 Hz has a manual and a pedal . The general overhaul took place in 2006, carried out by organ builder Johannes Lindner from Radebeul. The game action and stop action are mechanical, the wind chests are sliding chests.

Bell jar

The chimes consists of a bronze - bell from 1452 with the percussive h '+/- 0 whose founders is Butendijk (mm bottom diameter 780, Weight 280 kg), which is at home in a wooden belfry since of 2005. The bell bears the inscription: “I was made when the Roman indulgence was in Holland. Butendik cast the iron bell in 1452 ”. Flemish settlers probably brought the bell with them.

Parish

The Zweenfurth Church and the Borsdorf Church are a parish, as are the Gerichshain Church and the Althen Church . These two parishes and the Panitzsch parish form a sister church association. The pastor of the three parishes is Thomas Enge from Borsdorf.
