The Kirn Law is a hill of the Moorfoot Hills . It is located near the southwestern edge of the range of hills. Its 412 m high dome is in the Scottish Council Area Scottish Borders . The Kirn Law rises around four kilometers east of Peebles and seven kilometers northwest of Innerleithen . Its slopes are largely forested as part of the Glentress Forests . The saddle height of Kirn Law to the north adjacent Dunslair Heights is 57 meters. On the southeast side of the hill has a plateau-like knoll called Bught Hill with a height of 305 meters.
Surroundings
The Cramb Burn, which rises on the slopes of Dunslair Heights, runs along the western flank of Kirn Law . On the other hand, the Hope Burn runs along the eastern flank . Both streams flow into the tweed running south . Castle Hill borders to the south and Dunslair Heights to the north. Clog Knowe and Black Law rise northeast.
Traces of earlier settlement can be found along the slopes of Kirn Law. On the plateau of Bught Hill, a wall up to 2.5 meters thick once enclosed a roughly circular area. The foundations of two, presumably wooden, round huts with a diameter of about 7.5 meters can be found on the enclosed area. The foundations of a round hut with a diameter of around nine meters have been proven on the eastern slopes near Hope Burn.
