The Dunslair Heights are a hill of the Moorfoot Hills . It is located near the southwestern edge of the range of hills. Its 602 m high crest is located in the Scottish Council Area Scottish Borders . The Dunslair Heights rise about five kilometers northeast of Peebles and six kilometers southeast of Eddleston . Their slopes are largely forested as part of the Glentress Forests . The saddle height of Dunslair Heights is 122 meters. In addition to the main summit , several minor knolls are named on the Ordnance Survey map , namely Sherra Law (560 meters), Caresman Hill (551 meters), Horsburgh Hope Head (544 meters), Soonhope Craig (516 meters) and Green Hill (426 meters) .

Surroundings

The Soonhope Burn runs along the west flank of Dunslair Heights , while the Horsburgh Hope runs along the southwest flank. Both streams flow into the tweed running south . The Kirn Law borders to the south, the Makeness Kipps to the north and the Black Law to the west of the Dunslair Heights.

Traces of previous settlement can be found along the slopes of Dunslair Heights. There was once a hill fort on a rocky plateau on the slopes of Soonhope Craig . It was protected by trenches and two rings of walls. Its oval area was 41 meters long and 35 meters wide. The ruin is listed as a Scheduled Monument . A stone with two cup-and-ring markings was found near the fort .

The remains of a former settlement can be found on the top of Green Hill. It was protected by a stone wall. The foundations of stone huts can be found on the oval, 39 × 33 meter area. The complex is protected as a Scheduled Monument.
