Kirsten Brendel

Kirsten Marie Brendel (born May 12, 1970 ) is a former American - German basketball player .

career

Brendel, who comes from the town of Holmdel (US state New Jersey ) and has US and German citizenship, played at the University of Pennsylvania until 1991 . With 1656 points and 847 rebounds, the winger was at the top of the university's all-time best list in both statistical categories when she left. In the 1990/91 season, she achieved a value of 24.3 points per encounter.

Brendel moved to Australia and was under contract with the Lithgow Lazers during the spring season 1991, for which she scored an average of 25.4 points and 15 rebounds per encounter in the New South Wales League. In 1992 she also played in Australia, this time for the Sydney Akai Flames in the WNBL (Women's National Basketball League). Then she played in 1992/93 in Birsfelden , Switzerland , where she triumphed with an average of 31.2 points. From the 1993/94 season she was employed in the 1st women's basketball league in Germany : Brendel, who measures 1.82 meters, reinforced the Heidenheim SB and was the second best scorer in the league in the main Bundesliga round with 22.5 points per use , missed relegation with Heidenheim. Brendel stayed in the Bundesliga by moving to Osnabrücker SC  in the 1994/95 season. She reached the final in the German cup competition with the OSC, but lost there to Wuppertal . With Osnabrück, Brendel also competed in the European Cup ( Ronchetti Cup ) in 94/95 .

1996/97 she was in the service of the Bundesliga club KuSG Leimen . During her time in Germany, Brendel obtained a university degree in international economics and began her professional career at SAP . In the 1999/2000 game year Brendel strengthened the regional division TG Sandhausen. In 2000 she ended her professional career. She then went back to the United States and worked for local SAP branches in Pennsylvania and New York .
