Kirsten Fuchs (born October 27, 1977 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German writer .

Life

Fuchs grew up in Berlin in the Hellersdorf district . After graduating from high school, she began to study literature, which she soon broke off. She then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter.

In 1993 she took part for the first time in the writing workshop for pupils and young people workshop writing / writing workshop Berlin , where she has been leading working groups since 2000. Since 2005 she has been on the board of the association "Kreatives Schreib eV", which organizes these workshops, and since 2011 she has been the second chairwoman of the association.

In 2003 she won the Berlin literary competition Open Mike .

From 2002 until its dissolution in November 2008, she was a member of the Berlin Marabühne . From 2002 to 2004 she was a member of the Berlin reading stage Blauer Drache (later name - after moving to the mine in Bergstrasse in Berlin-Mitte  - successful writer in the shaft ) and from 2003 to 2005 of the Berlin reading stage O-Ton Ute . In 2008 she became a member of the Lesebühne Chaussee der Enthusiasten . After taking a longer break from performing there, she ended her collaboration in 2013. In 2014 she founded a new monthly reading stage in Berlin-Moabit under the title Fuchs und Sons .

From 2003 to 2005 she was a columnist for the taz . She has been writing columns for Das Magazin since 2007 . Since the same year she has been a member of the jury of the “Meeting of Young Authors”.

In summer 2008 she went on a trip to the Arctic with Volker Strübing and a film team for a four-part television show Not the South . A book of the same name was created together with Volker Strübing.

In 2010 there was another collaboration with the film company MonstaMovies. She wrote the texts for the six-part travel documentary "Die Donauten".

In 2016, the author received the Kassel Prize for Comedy Literature and the German Youth Literature Prize in the category of youth books for pack of girls .
