Kirsten Olesen (born May 10, 1949 in Aarhus , Denmark ) is a Danish actress .

Life

After graduating from Horsens Statsskole, Olesen originally applied to the University of Education for a degree. With her rejection, she went to the drama school of the Odense Teater , where she was able to successfully complete a degree in 1971. After a year she moved to Copenhagen , where she was on several theater stages, before being a permanent member of the Det Kongelige Teater ensemble since 1979 .

She celebrated her breakthrough in film in the television series Matador, which was broadcast from 1978 to 1982 . In 23 of 24 episodes she was seen as the housemaid Agnes. In addition to films such as House of Darkness and Albert and the Great Rapollo , she was also seen in the films Images of Liberation and Medea directed by Lars von Trier .

From 1997 until his death in 2013 Olesen was married to the Danish guitarist Ole Ousen .

Prizes and awards

She has received multiple awards for her theater achievements, including the theater trophy , the Henkel award and, after being nominated for best supporting actress in 2012, for her performance in Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts as best leading actress with the renowned Reumert theater prize .

She received her first national film award in 1979 for her portrayal of Kirsten in the drama Honeymoon , staged by Bille August , when she was awarded a Bodil for Best Actress . It also has been twice as Best Supporting Actress with a Robert Award respectively for their roles in Elise and spring tide .

Olesen was made knight of the Dannebrogden in 1988 . After she was made knight 1st degree in 1997, she has been commander of the Dannebrogden since 2008.
