The inheritance (Original title: Arvingerne , international marketing Title: The Legacy ) is a Danish television series that Danmarks Radio 2013 produced to the 2016th The TV station DR1 broadcast the first episode on January 1, 2014. The third and final season was broadcast from January 1, 2017.
The Franco-German broadcaster Arte broadcast the first season in a German and French version in June 2016. The seven episodes of the second season will celebrate their free TV premiere on Arte on October 4 and 11, 2018 .

Veronika Grønnegaard is an internationally recognized and controversial artist. She lives and works on a former stud that she has partially converted into a workshop. There she designs her sculptures. Meanwhile the eldest daughter named Gro travels around organizing exhibitions for her mother and representing her interests. The eldest son Frederik lives with his family nearby, but has broken off contact with Veronika. The younger son Emil is in Thailand to set up a resort there. As a rule, he only reports if he is financially in a tight spot. Signe Larsen, the youngest daughter, does not know at the beginning of the plot that she also belongs to the Grønnegaard family. She lives in the village and works as a flower seller. When Veronika learns that her hidden cancer leaves her little time to live, she decides to reveal herself to Signe and to bequeath the stud to her. Shortly afterwards, she dies of a severe stroke .
The siblings then come together and a fight breaks out over the Grønnegaard inheritance. The difficult relationship between the siblings quickly becomes apparent. Nevertheless, the Grønnegaards manage to pull themselves together again and again. They cannot work together, but neither can they without the others.

Reception in Germany
Hannah Pilarczyck from Spiegel Online judged very positively: "As usual for Danish television, 'Die Erbschaft' captivates with its excellent cast and excellent equipment, which also focuses on optics and perfects the figure drawing."
The portal femundo praises the series as an exciting family story and adds: "... a sometimes very funny moral image of the eccentric art market and the associated clichés of inappropriateness, freedom and bohemianism. Publication in Germany
Even before it was published on German television, Constantin Film released the series on DVD. The first season was released on January 8, 2015. However, the DVD box only contains the German dubbed version. The original Danish version is not available. The second season was released in Germany on February 8, 2018. The third season was released on November 8, 2018.
