Carsten Bjørnlund

Carsten Bjørnlund (born June 28, 1973 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish actor .

Life

Carsten Bjørnlund grew up in North Zealand . His childhood and youth were shaped by his parents' numerous moves. He grew up in Lundtofte , Virum , Ordrup , Snekkersten and Helsingør and attended six different schools. Bjørnlund dropped out of school at the age of 17 after the tenth grade when he lived with his parents in Helsingør. He came into contact with acting a short time later through Perron X , a municipal theater project in Helsingør for unemployed young people. As part of the project, he played the lead role of an Indian boy in the play Perlen (1990). Bjørnlund took a liking to the theater, and Perron X's teacher said he had the courage to pursue a professional acting career. In his second attempt he was accepted at the State Theater School in Copenhagen, where he completed his acting studies until 2002.

In 2002 Bjørnlund took on the role of Michael in Henrik Sartou's production of the award-winning Danish feature film Das Fest am Mammutteatret in Copenhagen. Supporting roles followed in both classical pieces and more modern material at Copenhagen theaters such as Det Kongelige Teater , Aveny-Teatret, Grønnegårds Teatret or Østre Gasværk Teater. Since 2005, the actor has worked together with director Nikolaj Cederholm, who has cast Bjørnlund several times in his productions ( Guitaristerne , Alle mennesker er dødelige , Åh Gud , Guitaristernes Jul , Mann som blir en smula irriterade i sällskap med kvinnor ). In 2011 Bjørnlund appeared in Alexa Thers modern production of Anna Karenina (Betty Nansen Teatret) alongside Stine Stengade as Count Wronskij.

Parallel to his work in the theater Bjørnlund took on roles in Danish film and television productions. He mainly specialized in aggressive and threatening characters. These include the part of the former prison inmate Patrik in the series Forsvar (2003-2004), the supporting roles of the alcoholic Lars in the series Album (2008) and the murder suspect soldier Søgaard in the series Kommissarin Lund - Das Verbrechen II (2009) as well as his representations a psychopathic serial killer in the television production Nordlicht - Murderers without Regrets and a radical activist in the cinema production ID: A - Identity anonymous (both 2011). Bjørnlund was successfully cast against his type in his first leading movie role En enkelt til Korsør (2008). In Gert Fredholm's comedy, he portrayed an adult education center teacher who falls in love with a lesbian student (played by Lærke Winther Andersen ). His portrayal of Rasmus earned him a 2009 nomination for the Danish Film Prize Robert for Best Actor . In 2011, The Thing was followed by a first supporting role in American cinema. After the success of the Danish television series Rita , in which he played the headmaster Rasmus at the side of the title heroine Mille Dinesen , the series Bødlen (2012) and the series The Inheritance made further appearances on Danish television. For his portrayal of the lawyer and family father Frederik Grønnegaard, who threatens to break apart in the title dispute over a country estate, he won the Robert for best series starring actor in 2015.

Carsten Bjørnlund lives in Frederiksberg . He has been married to his colleague Signe Skov since 2004, who played roles in his films Comeback and En enkelt til Korsør (both 2008). The relationship resulted in two sons. In addition to working as an actor, Bjørnlund devotes himself to music. In 2010 he co-founded the band Rovdrift , in which he acts as a singer and lyricist.
