Kirsti Lay , married. Kirsti Lay-Giroux , (born April 7, 1988 in Medicine Hat ) is a former Canadian cyclist who is active on track and road , and speed skater .
Athletic career
Kirsti Lay began her athletic career as a speed skater; she started three times in the Junior World Championship and in several World Cups. In 2012, an injury forced her to give up the sport and she turned to cycling.
In 2015, the Canadian four-man team with Kirsti Lay won gold medals at the Track Cycling World Cup in Cali and at the Pan American Games . The following year Lay started in the team pursuit at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro together with Jasmin Glaesser , Allison Beveridge and Georgia Simmerling . The four won the bronze medal.
In 2019 Lay became the mother of a daughter and ended her cycling career.
Private
Kirsti Lay graduated with a degree in economics in 2014 . She is married to former Canadian speed skater Mathieu Giroux , who at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver won the gold medal in the team pursuit.
