history

Kite was founded in 2008 by Nicklas Stenemo ( The Mo , Melody Club ) and Christian Berg ( Yvonne , Strip Music , The April Tears ). Originally from Malmö and now based in Stockholm , Kite is under contract with Progress Productions and has released six EPs since it was founded . These were released on CD and as a limited vinyl edition .

Kite performed at various festivals, such as the Recession Festival in Århus , Denmark , the Arvikafestival and Putte i parken in Sweden, as well as the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig . After a health-related break between 2017 and 2018, Kite performed again at some festivals in the following years.

In 2020 the two songs Tranås / Stenslanda and Hopelessly Unholy were released as 7 '' singles.

reception

Kite's debut EP Kite received very positive reviews from Side-Line magazine and was compared to works by classic synth-pop bands from the 1980s such as Erasure and Yazoo , while the review by Sonic Seducer magazine highlighted Nicklas Stenemo's distinctive voice. The EP Kite III was praised for its innovative sound and darker mood from Side-Line and Sonic Seducer . The EP Kite IV was seen as a mix of classic 1980s OMD- style synthpop sound and more modern, experimental sound. Kite's sixth EP VI (released in 2015) was compared to the sound of Kraftwerk and Vangelis . The single Jonny Boy from 2010 reached number 49 in the Swedish charts.
