Kiti Grosar (born February 24, 1976 ) is a Slovenian chess player . She was the leading chess player in Slovenia in the 1990s and is the sister of the international master and chess referee Aljoša Grosar (* 1967).

Individual championships

At the U20 World Cup for women in 1994 in Matinhos , which was won by Zhu Chen , Kiti Grosar took fourth place. At the invitation of Joshua Waitzkin , she played several tournaments in the United States in the 1990s . She won the Slovenian women's individual championship three times: in Postojna in 1992 , in Nova Gorica in 1994 and in Maribor in 1998 . In 1998 in Dresden she took third place behind Masha Klinova and Ella Pitam in the zone tournament for the World Cup .

Team championships

She played for the Slovenian women's national team at the Chess Olympiads in 1992 , 1994 , 1998 and 2000 . In 1992 she played on the first reserve board, in the other appearances on the top board. They also took part in three European Team Championships for women in part: 1992 on the first Reserve Board, as well as 1997 and 1999 on top board.

She played club chess in Slovenia until the early 1990s for Murka Lesce , then for the ŠK Nova Gorica (formerly known as SD Nova Gorica ). With Nova Gorica she took part in the European Club Cups for women in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001, her best result being sixth place with the team in 2001 in Belgrade (in the line-up Elena Sedina , Jana Krivec , Kiti Grosar and Ana Srebrnič ). Kiti Grosar also played in the Croatian team championship.

Title and rating

She has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM) since 1995 . Her Elo rating is 2078 (as of March 2020), but she is considered inactive because she has not played an Elo-rated game since the 20th Hit Open in Nova Gorica in January 2015. Her highest rating was 2290 in July 1998.
