Kitty Winter (born October 16, 1952 in Memmingen ) is a German jazz singer .

Winter, a Sintezza , sang since 1975 in the band Kitty Winter Gipsy Nova , with whom she received a special prize at the Nagold jazz competition in 1976. In the late 1970s she released two albums with Gipsy Nova ; with this band she did not orientate herself on the swing legacy of Django Reinhardt , but progressed towards fusion jazz . “In doing so, she managed to create her own signature style.” Twenty years later, Winter was rediscovered with this band in British and Japanese dance floor clubs. In 1999 the singer produced another album with Gipsy Nova , after which she had already presented the album Planet People in 1991 with husband and keyboardist Kuno Schmid . She also sang folk songs with her Kitty Winter Ensemble .
