Kiwi Rail Scenic Journeys

Kiwi Rail Scenic Journeys is the name of a division of New Zealand's Kiwi Rail , which currently offers four long-distance train connections in New Zealand in 2017 . Since May 2017, the four offers have been marketed together with the Interislander ferry service under the umbrella brand The Great Journeys of New Zealand .

history

In 1993 the New Zealand government sold part of its privatization hype the state railway network and the railway operation including the Trajekts Wellington - Picton to an American consortium . After that went completely wrong, the government bought back the railway infrastructure in 2003 and took over the rail and ferry operations again on July 1, 2008. See here for details . Long-distance passenger rail transport , which is largely geared towards tourism, was organized in Tranz Scenic . Since 2012 this division has been known as Kiwi Rail Scenic Journeys .
