Kjell Rodian

Kjell Rodian (completely Kjell Åkerstrøm Hansen Rodian) (born June 30, 1942 in Frederiksberg , † December 29, 2017 in Nørrebro ) was a Danish cyclist .

Athletic career

He started for the club ABC Copenhagen and rose in 1961 after a victory in Copenhagen in the A-class of the Danish amateurs . As early as 1963 he was appointed to the national team and finished fourth with the four-man team at the UCI road world championship in the team time trial . His greatest sporting success was winning the silver medal in the road race of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo behind the Italian Mario Zanin . In the same year he had previously won the individual race as well as the team time trial with the Danish foursome at the Nordic championships . After the divorce of his marriage, he retired from the sport in 1965 and started cycling again after almost five years. Rodian competed in the International Peace Tour four times, his best result in the overall ranking was 35th in 1973 . In 1974 he was able to achieve two podium places at the Danish championships, he was runner- up in the single pursuit and third in the individual time trial on the road. In 1976 he got his license as a professional driver and for two years drove mainly criteria and track races as a professional . He competed twice in the Copenhagen six-day race , but did not get beyond sixth place in 1976 on the side of Wolfgang Schulze .
